Ice Outgoing is an independent editorial index of hotels. It covers four categories and nothing else: art hotels, capsule hotels, casino hotels and ice hotels. Each entry is a short written piece about one building — where it stands, how it is put together, and what genuinely distinguishes it from the others in its category.

What this site is not

It is not a booking service and has no reservation system, no availability data and no prices. It does not publish star ratings, review scores or rankings, and it does not collect guest reviews. Entries are written from general public knowledge about each property, kept to the kind of description that stays true over time rather than to details that change week to week.

Why these four categories

The four categories were chosen because each one answers a different question about what a hotel is for. An art hotel treats the building or its collection as the reason to be there. A capsule hotel treats the night as a piece of engineering. A casino hotel is a full-service hotel that happens to carry a gaming floor among its facilities. An ice hotel is a structure that exists only while the cold holds, rebuilt from scratch each winter.
